BALBOA SPILLWAY

A series of Hot Springs Village’s lakes drain into one another based on elevations. This could allow for leveraging excess of water in one lake to be used for another purpose such as whitewater in a spillway. In July of 2015, a kayak invitational was hosted on the Balboa Spillway with tremendous turnout and enthusiasm among the participants and audience. The event’s main purpose was to determine the feasibility of a whitewater park. Continue to check on the progress of the whitewater paddling and clinics in the near future.

WAYPOINT

Basecamp hosts several paddling events from Waypoint. These events range from Wine and Cheese paddle, Coffee paddle or just a lazy Sunday afternoon paddle. Kayaks and paddleboards can be rented by the hour.
For a full schedule of events, check out the Basecamp website.

Beaches

Hot Springs Village has three beaches with marked swimming areas (no lifeguards on duty).

BALBOA BEACH

Located off Ponce de Leon Drive, Balboa has a sand beach with four shade shelters, pavilion, grills, restrooms and picnic tables.

CORTEZ BEACH

Located off Sereno Lane, Cortez has a sand beach, pavilion, grills, restrooms and picnic tables. The shaded area provides an ideal spot for picnics or relaxing.

DESOTO BEACH

Located off Seville Lane, DeSoto provides a wide view of activities on Lake DeSoto. The large beach has pea gravel, picnic tables and is grill ready for seasonal enjoyment.

Fishing

Fishing is fantastic throughout Hot Springs Village. The lakes in Hot Springs Village are stocked with bass, catfish, bluegill and sunfish by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. The fish population is monitored by Game and Fish biologists and additional stockings are done if needed. In addition to the Hot Springs Village POA’s specific regulations, all U.S. and Arkansas fishing and boating regulations apply to Village lakes and an Arkansas fishing license is required. A Village Temporary Usage Tag or an Annual Boat Decal is required for all boating. You can purchase a Village Temporary Usage Tag at an honor box located at each boat ramp. You can purchase an Annual Boat Decal from the POA.
