Cortez Golf Club

Cortez Golf Club is a shot maker’s dream, rewarding precise iron play over raw distance on its challenging 18-hole, par-72 layout. Designed by Ault, Clark & Associates and opened in 1977, the course winds through rolling Ouachita hills lined with hickory, oak, and pine trees, featuring elevation changes, water hazards, and standout holes like the tough 425-yard par-4 10th and the iconic par-3 17th with its mountain peak backdrop.

Players enjoy five sets of tees to match any skill level, SRT 1020 Bentgrass greens, Hybrid Bermuda fairways, and full practice facilities including a driving range and putting green. The clubhouse offers a well-stocked golf shop and The Hideaway Bar & Grill for post-round dining with stunning views.

Cortez Golf Club - Hole Details

Hole 1 “Opening Salvo”

A welcoming par 4 with a wide fairway, trees left, and a bunker right. The green is well-protected, with water just beyond adding a final challenge.

Hole 2 “Twist and Shout”

Double dogleg par 5 where accuracy trumps distance. Uphill green guarded by bunkers left and short-right demands precision.

Hole 3 “The Squeeze”

Dogleg par 4 with trees and OB on the right, fairway bunker left. Cutting the corner is tempting but risky; the green is bunkered left.

Hole 4 “Sharp Turn”

Short 90-degree dogleg with OB and trees left. Water lurks long, and the uphill green is heavily protected.

Hole 5 “Straight Shooter”

A straight par 4 with trees left and fairway bunker strategically placed. Right rough slopes sharply to trees and OB, while the green is guarded left and short-right.

Hole 6 “Downhill Dash”

Short par 3 downhill with open surroundings. Slopes around the green challenge your landing.

Hole 7 “Double Trouble”

Double dogleg par 5 offering a risk/reward option off the tee. Bunker and penalty area short-right guard the green.

Hole 8 “Island Target”

Par 3 surrounded by a penalty area and bunkers on all sides, demanding an accurate tee shot.

Hole 9 “Roller Coaster”

Downhill dogleg par 4 where tee shot direction is key. Fairway bunker left and a well-protected green await precise play.

Hole 10 “The Gauntlet”

Long, uphill par 4 with trees lining both sides and a fairway bunker left. Second shot climbs to a heavily guarded green.

Hole 11 “Reach or Retreat”

Short par 5 reachable in two for long hitters. Fairway slopes toward a penalty area, while the green is bunkered on both sides.

Hole 12 “Sloped Challenge”

Short downhill par 3 with bunkers guarding short and both sides of the green. Precision is a must.

Hole 13 “Tree Block”

Dogleg par 4 with a large tree at the bend. Long hitters can carry it to leave a short iron into a well-bunkered green.

Hole 14 “Uphill Fight”

Short par 4 with trees and penalty areas on both sides. Second shot climbs to a green protected by a left-side bunker.

Hole 15 “March Up”

Straight par 4 playing uphill. Wide fairway helps avoid trees and penalty areas, but a large left green bunker must be avoided.

Hole 16 “Fairway Puzzle”

Short dogleg par 4 with a tree near center fairway. Green is bunkered on both sides; over shots roll toward trees and OB.

Hole 17 “Mountain View”

Short downhill par 3 with breathtaking views toward Goosepond Mountain. Green is well-guarded with a steep left slope.

Hole 18 “Two-Shot Gambit”

Short dogleg par 5 reachable in two for long hitters. Tall trees and penalty area left, fairway slope right, and a well-protected green complete the challenge.
