Ponce de Leon Golf Club

Ponce de Leon Golf Club

Ponce de Leon Golf Club is a challenging 18-hole, par-72 course opened in 1991 and co-designed by Arkansas native and PGA Tour star John Daly along with Ault, Clark & Associates. Stretching up to 7,045 yards from the back tees with a slope of 141, it features tree-lined fairways, consistently true Penn Cross/Crenshaw Bentgrass greens, and Tifway II Bermuda fairways that demand accuracy from low-handicap players while remaining enjoyable for all.

Frequently ranked among Arkansas' top 10 courses by Golf Digest and the Arkansas Business Journal, the layout offers five tee options, a driving range, putting and short-game greens, a golf shop, and Mulligan’s for casual dining. Its scenic Ouachita Mountain setting and demanding play make it a standout for serious golfers in the Village.

Ponce de Leon Golf - Hole Details

Hole 1 “The Awakening”

A demanding opener that wastes no time testing your focus. The fairway is tight, the trouble is real, and the sloping green rejects timid approaches. Welcome to Ponce.

Hole 2 “The Illusion”

This hole looks forgiving with its wide fairway, but appearances deceive. Short shots die in the apron, and the back-to-front slope makes putting a true test of touch.

Hole 3 “The Hunter’s Chance”

A par 5 that tempts the bold. Keep your drive right of center and attack—long hitters can chase birdie here. The green’s tilt from back-to-front rewards control over muscle.

Hole 4 “The Little Trickster”

A short par 3 with big personality. Carry to the center or risk watching your ball tumble away on its steep back-to-front slope.

Hole 5 “The Ascent”

This dogleg par 4 climbs steadily upward, demanding power and precision. The deep, ridged green makes the approach—and your putting touch—a true test of skill.

Hole 6 “The Tease”

A short par 4 that whispers of birdie but punishes carelessness. The uphill second shot and well-placed traps protect a deceptively tricky green.

Hole 7 “The Plateau”

A long par 3 set on a sprawling green with layers of subtle movement. Pick your club wisely; position means everything here.

Hole 8 “The Gambler’s Delight”

A straight par 5 that begs the question—do you lay up or go for it? The sloping left side and fall away back demand courage and precision in equal measure.

Hole 9 “The Cornered Tiger”

A dogleg par 4 that rewards strategy over strength. Avoid the bunkers at the bend and take aim at a deep, uphill green that slopes hard from back to front.

Hole 10 “The Tightrope”

Accuracy rules this short par 4. A narrow landing zone, flanking hazards, and a multi-sloped green make par feel like victory.

Hole 11 “The Temptation”

A par 5 that dares you to reach in two. But danger lurks short and in the bunkers—precision is your ally, not power. The expansive green rolls like the sea.

Hole 12 “The Climb”

A long uphill dogleg par 4 that plays even tougher than it looks. The green is broad but guarded, and only a crisp approach will hold its surface.

Hole 13 “The Mirage”

This par 3 appears tame but plays long. The green’s subtle rise hides a back slope that can send balls rolling away if you overshoot.

Hole 14 “The Steady Climb”

A short, uphill dogleg that rewards straight shooters. The green falls softly to the front and right, making placement paramount.

Hole 15 “The Descent”

A beautiful downhill par 4 with perilous edges. Staying in the fairway is key—miss wide and your scorecard will feel the sting.

Hole 16 “The Wall”

This uphill par 3 leaves no room for hesitation and often plays two clubs longer. Anything short won’t reach, and the green’s steep slopes punish even the slightest miss.

Hole 17 “The Journey”

A long, straight par 5 that feels every bit like an expedition. Few reach the green in two, and even fewer survive the approach unscathed. A sloping, well-bunkered green awaits the brave.

Hole 18 “The Finale”

A sweeping dogleg par 4 that offers a dramatic close. Trouble lines both sides of the fairway, and the green—large, bunkered, and full of movement—demands a final moment of focus.
